Dance for a Reason 2012

Tonight for my Hip Hop 1 class I had to go to a community dance performance and later will have to write a paper about it. Not sure what kind of paper but I'll jump that hurdle when I come to it......but I thought I'd share with you guys how the night went!!

So first I want to let you in on a little background with Dance for a Reason....every year they do this show and all proceeds go to help a program in our community that is there to help others. This year it was for DanceAbility International and the show included preformances by ZAPP, Oregon Ballet Academy and the Eugene Youth Ballet!!

Below are a couple pictures I took.....it was really too dark most the time to take pictures but I got a couple to share......

This is the crowd waiting to get into the lower levels.....
I was up in balcony seating!

This is what it looked like from the balcony.....
super scary aye?

This is my ticket and a copy of the flier I picked up.
Perfect for the scrapbook!!

There were a ton of great performances tonight but I have to say that Monsters Religion by Work Dance Company had to be my favorite! It was to Sceibe/Judas by Lady Gaga and it was electric. They had a video playing in the background that I only caught bits and pieces of because the performance was so great. And they interacted with the audience in a way......by using the whole stage and at the end even coming off the stage into the isles.

Another favorite was preformed by the Bounce Gymnastics and Circus Art Center. It starts off with a girl on the ground near a teddy bear with a white cloth hanging from the ceiling. She gets up and does a ton of aerial stunts using the cloth......it was crazy and beautiful. My hear skipped a beat every time she plunged down.....and she ended slowly curling down the cloth to the floor. It was fantastic!!

But that was sorta what I did with my night!! If you weren't there and are local, you missed out!!

Shooting Threesome!

I had an awesome shoot today with J. Robert Williams which turned out included two other models!! It was a blast and I love being able to meet new models (as in I haven't met them because these girls were veterans when came to in front of the camera).....but I was also stoked to see Bob again!! We hadn't shot in so long that I almost felt like he didn't like me anymore *insert signature pout here* but that is so not the case...........

I thought since I didn't really get any behind the scenes stuff I could show off some of the wonderful things I was wearing to make the wonderful images that we made!! First I have a picture of a couple of the tops:

This top was actually a gift from an awesome fan on Zivity!!
It a red/black ruffle Ophelia Top in PVC from Artifice Clothing!!

I found this at Goodwill for $4!!
Its a red/black caplet lined with fur!

Now onto a few of the gorgeous accessories use in the shoot.....rather the odd things I like to wear!! Your gonna find these a little funny:

A wonderful respirator also bought for my by a Zivity fan!

Cute little $4 crown I picked up.....and will be modifying!
And after all the shooting was done and said Bob gave me a new ISO shirt!! This one will help me when I'm pretending to be a photographer!! Before he gave me a ride home and we plotted world domination!!

I hope you enjoyed this.....and thanx as always for reading <3

Pleasantville!

I've spent most of my day at school today and now I understand what people mean when they say they just want to go back to a simpler time.......like the 50s!!

For my film in the 50s class today we watched a short clip during class and then told that we had a showing of a film called Pleasantville later that day or the following day to discuss in class on Wednesday!! It was last minute and I'm happy that I had the time to do so today because I wouldn't tomorrow......

Now Pleasantville is a rather good movie. Its about two kids that get transported into this show called....you guessed it.....Pleasantville. And while there they introduce many new things. In this town holding hands was monumental and much like going steady. They believed that all the streets go in circles and books have no words in them.......and they know nothing about color. As you would guess these two kids being there start to disrupt their rather pleasant way of like and with it bringing color!! I won't let you know too much more.....other then that they make a rather interesting parody of  'coloreds - not allowed' a statement about the time I feel.

I personally love this movie and I hope that y'all will go check it out. But it does bring to mind a seeming simpler time and something I would love to go back to......to escape all the stress of current day to day life!

School School School!!

Tomorrow I start school at 11 am (oh so early for this night owl) with my Social Stratification and Social Systems class.....followed by a long break and Film & the 50s at 2 pm and last but not least Hip Hop at like 7:30 pm..........and I'm sooooo nervous!!!

I should of spent my day doing laundry and such so I have something killer and adorable to wear to school!! Or should of read the first part of my books......or done something to prepare myself for this time. Instead I'm sitting on my computer, playing Facebook games. Instead I went grocery shopping (much needed but still) and filled my house with food from couponing......

And now I feel sick! Tomorrow morning I'm gonna have to get ready!! And pack bags and snacks and figure out where my classes are.......I'm going to have to sit in classrooms for the first time in either four or five years and I'm scared. So I'm gonna go to bed.......and dream happy thoughts!!

Thanx as always for reading <3

Modeling: Sneak Peak to Fully Clothed Prize

My man stayed at his brothers last night, meaning I left the hospital with my family to come home to an empty bed. Which in turn led to no sleep and a terrible first Saturday at work (started my new schedule this week). So I'm just gonna give ya a sneak peak into my newest set to come......and some story behind it!!

We were just going for a Lazy Winter Day!! Laying around reading a book, painting my toe nails and having a cup of cocoa. And Classic Rock Photos caught it.......This particular picture caught me all caught up in the TV as I don't have television at home and tend to get stuck in it!! Drawn to it like a moth to a fly ^.^

Day to Day: Books for School and the Hospital

I spent most......aka eight hours.....at the hospital today for my sister's arm surgery. She had put her arm through a glass window and had severed a nerve some tendons and so forth. They put it all back together and other then a numb top of the hand for the next year she'll have minor repurcussions......

But seeing as thats what I've been doing all day I thought I would just do a quick blog here about my day and then take my tired butt to bed.....

Before arriving at the hospital at 12:30pm I managed to get up to the college to buy my books and such for school (that starts Monday!!). I got all my books and other things that I might need for school as well with the exception of notebooks, I'll grab a couple Monday. And wanted to just leave ya with a couple pictures of what I picked up.......

My Sociology Book, Accounting Book and 3 folders!!

My Films in the 50's Book/Workbook, Calendar Board, Pencils,
Sharpies, Highlighters, Stapler and Staples!!
So yeah.......thats what I bought today and.....my super short and not all that important blog entry!! But hey, I did one. And that Calendar Board up there ^^^^ You'll be seeing more of it later this weekend once its filled out!!

As always thanx for reading!!

Book Review: Noise by Darin Bradley

'In the aftermath of the switch from analog to digital TV, an anarchic movement known as Salvage hijacks the unused airwaves. Mixed in with the static's random noise are dire warnings of the imminent economis , political and social collapse of civilization - and cold-blooded lessons on how to survive the fall and prosper in the harsh new order that will inevitably arise from the ashes of the old.

Hiram and Levi are two young men, former Scouts and veterans of countless Dungeons & Dragons campaigns. Now, on the blood-drenched battlefields of university campuses, shopping malls and gated communities, they will find themselves taking on new identities and new moralities as they lead a ragtag band of hackers and misfits to an all-but-mythical place called Amaranth, where a fragile future waits to be born.'

That is what you read when you pick up Noise by Darin Bradley the first time, trying to get a feel for the book. But its nothing compared to what you find inside nor does it prepare you for just what your about to pick up. The story follows Hiram, and Levi by fault as his best friend, through the preparations for the Collapse, for the Event and as they execute their Event Exit Strategy. As they move from First Place to Second Place and finally to the Place, Amaranth. As they pick up Outsiders as Secondaries. And it pulls into question everything you've ever thought was 'right'!

One of the big things in this story is the Book. They all live by this book but the different groups within Salvage have different books. Its all about what they picked up from airwaves and what they wrote down. This book outlines that when the collapse happens you are to get to your Place with your Group and do whatever is necessary to do so. Nothing but your Place and your Group matter. But not before the Event because then you start with criminal acts and you don't go into this clean. So they wait untill the Event and they take what they need not steal and so forth. They use force to get what they need because laws don't matter anymore......

Its a really hard book to talk about because at times things are explained in such detail that you know everything thats going on down to the last detail and six sentences later everything you thought you knew has been torn to shreds. People are dead and you don't know how or they're out saving people that aren't part of their group. And next thing you know there is a flashback to his past, sometimes just middle of the sentence is from the past but the rest is present. Either way once you get use to the style its easy to read, you just end up reading small sections a couple times to make sure you got it. I would say its kinda like reading Chuck Palahniuk's stuff.

What really shook me about this book was its relevance though. It put me into the mind that if the Occupy Wall Street had been an underground operation as well as quite a bit less peaceful then this could be the world that we  would be living in. Or even still a world that we're heading towards now. That the collapse of things as we know them could lead to this very world. Where in order to survive your gonna need to find people and a place and just whole yourself up there and hope for the best. Where there will be people more willing then I to kill someone just to keep their place or their stuff. Or to kill to get more stuff. What struck me about this book is that this could really happen and its not just some fantasy.......a story.

Those are my thoughts on the book!! Hope you liked them!!

Thanks as always for reading <3

Reflections On School and a Sneak Peak (caution porn wallpaper in picture)

Friday I go get my books for classes that start on Monday. I changed my schedule at work today for when classes start and I can't help but feel a little......nervous!!

I feel old. I just turned 24 and I don't have too much accomplished with my life. I have some pretty cool things I can say I've done......but nothing thats too worth while in the long run. I just checked out and lived a normal life. But now I'm going back to school and I just feel.....too old!!

Like maybe I should of done this sooner. Like I should of taken care of my suspension earlier. Its the first time I've ever really felt a sense of regret about something I've done rather then about how someone turned out. And its really not a good feeling.......at all!!

So.......I'm making some promises to myself about school!! I promise:

*to get nothing lower then a 'B' in all my classes

*to do all homework on time, even if its only half done at least turn something in

*talk to my counselor about my field of study

*try to get a couple scholarships

:those are my goals for this term. I want to head back to school with a bang and I want to just do what I need to do. Because its taking me much too long to get this done and to get on to having a career. And thats all I have to say about that for now. So onto.........

SNEAK PEAK!!!!

Earlier this week (and by that I mean yesterday) I showed you a little of what I'm gonna look like in my Activism! set......well I have a picture today from the actual set to share with you!! Hope you love it as much as I do!!

And if your on Zivtiy..........I have a new set going up tonight at midnight!! I can't share an image from that one as the one that I have is what she's using for her project. But its an awesome set and its being FEATURED!!!!

Activism! Prize Shoot Today

So this morning I shot for the Activism! Prize on Zivity. I woke up at like 8:30 am (half an hour late) to jump in the shower and get ready for my shoot!! Well Kassi showed up as I'm wallpapering my kitchen in 80's porn half ready for the shoot......so I'm gonna back up real quick here because I'm sure none of this makes any sense.

So first off Zivity has prizes where you can win money by putting up a set into the prize and being picked or having the most votes/comments. And the Activism! Prize is just like it sounds. You do a set about something your super passionate about. Now for me that would be gay/lesbian/bisexual rights but I could not for the life of me figure out a way to portray this without a sign and I did not want a sign in my set.....at all!!

Then it came to me.....I have a stack of porn that I found while digging through newspaper drop boxes for coupons!! I shall wallpaper the walls in my kitchen (nice small space by the door) and use it as a background. Just a girl and her porn......80's porn I might add. Check out the transformation:
Here is what it looks like before!!!

And this is after the 80's porn exploded!!
Now after wallpapering this small area with lots and lots of porn the next thought was what can I wear for this. And as I just couldn't come up with anything that screams I'm for LGBT rights I went with a classic......cute little school girl!!

Here is the whole outfit......don't mind the mess lol

And just an up close picture of the hair and make-up....not to mention cute bow I made!!
So there is the stage and the look for my activism shoot.....me and Kassi had a blast. You can find her on Zivity as well as a photographer and a model. And can't wait to get some of the images back to show you what we accomplished today!!

And as for other goals - I wore this outfit out of the house today minus the heels.....I hate walking in heels!!

Thanx for reading and much love <3 <3

PS if anyone would like a free month pass to Zivity please comment with your e-mail so I can contact you!!

Blogging In The New Year

So tonight's blog is gonna be a lot like last nights blog and not all spiffy because work ran late and I'm super tired......so here we go! In the new year I really want to write at least one blog entry a day and its gonna be something thats hard for me to do. Because I lose motivation half way through doing something and next thing you know I'm not doing any entries.......so my roommate is gonna help keep me on track. Here are some of the things I'm hoping to post this year:

Modeling - I'll be posting pictures and information on all the different kinds of things I'm trying for. Like just today I saw that Razor Barbie is looking for a new spokes picture for their Facebook page and I want to try for that!!

Photography - I'll post pictures of all the different things I take pictures of and of all the things that I'm trying with photoshop. Hoping to go far in this area......maybe!!

Travel - I plan on traveling a lot. Hoping for a trip to Portland this month. Going to Emerald City Comicon in the end of March and beginning of April. Then England in June or July. And Las Vegas in August. So lots of plans to travel and to go along with those......pictures of my travels and such!!

Crafty Things - I'm hoping to put up something new I crafted for myself or to sell. Or I'm hoping to do some actual decorating of my house. I have quite a few ideas for this that I want to put into place and would love to share.

30 Day Challenges - I'm gonna make up a bunch of different 30 day challenges......like photography of nature or people and other such things. I'll figure out a new one for each month. This months is gonna be the challenge of actually getting a post up every day!!

Day to Day Life - things like the outfits I'm wearing and updates on my health and coupon adventures. Just day to day kinds of things......

New Years Resolutions

Professional

This year I'm hoping to further myself in many ways and the biggest one being professionally. I want to take my many 'careers' to a higher level this year and hope to meet many different goals!!

Modeling:

This last year I've gotten the chance to work with a lot of great photographers on quite a few projects. I worked with many talented models, make-up artists and hair stylists. And managed to get published in Giuseppina Magazine! I joined a sight called Zivity posting art nude sets, where I've been creating a fan base and actually getting paid to do something I love to do.......

Models: Me (Left) and Renee Kryl (Right)
Accessories Designer: Me
Photographer: Nick Johnson

This year I wanna try to take my modeling further and this is what I'm hoping to do:

1. Shoot once a week. Now this could be shooting with my roommate or a photographer everyone knows. This could be for fun or to publish in a magazine or for a set on Zivity. But its gonna happen once a week!!

2. Get published. Now this is a interesting one....because I'm gonna try to be published six times this year. And if what I put in isn't accepted I'm just gonna try again. Because persitence is whats gonna pay out here!

3. Model some designs. I want to try to either e a spokesperson for or just be in photos on sights for designers. I don't care if its their etsy shop or their facebook page or their actual webpage. I just want to have some sort of 'tearsheets' to show off by the end of the year!!

Photography:

For the last five years I've been the one in front of the camera. I've been learning what I can about making clothing, doing my make up and how to do my hair. I know how to be in front of the camera but this year I want to learn how to be behind that camera too!!

1. Pick up a camera. This year I'm gonna buy a good camera and I'm gonna take classes and I'm gonna learn how to take pictures as beautiful as the ones I'm in.

2. Start pages. I'm gonna start photography pages on everything that I have modeling pages on and try to do this as well.

3. Learn photoshop. I want to be able to do everything and this looks to be my biggest challenge. But with all the tutorials we'll see what I come out with.

Clothing Line:

This last year I got myself published for the first time as an accessory designer and I was so proud of that. It just projected me into wanting to actually trying to make my own clothing line. So I drew up a ton of ideas this year. I started an etsy account and got one thing up. But didn't quite meet the goals I set for myself last year.

This year I'm hoping to make it much farther in this:

1. Get more done. I want to have more up on etsy. I want to have more up on my like page. I just want to get more of my work out there for people to look at and maybe buy.

2. Make it look great. I want so bad to get published again and to just have some great images come from the things I make.

Personal

These are just a few of the goals that I have set for myself personally. I'm hoping to just have a better year all together and here are some of the ways that I'm hoping to achieve that!!

Health:

Now I'm not much of a health nut but I am getting older and just want to get around to being healthier while it'll help me out. Sot this year I'm pledging to eat better. Less sweets, no caffeine (other then special times), and no fast food. As well as exercise more!!

In the process I'll be joining Bat Fit 2012 to help keep myself motivated!!

Educational:

This year I'm going back to school and hope to pass all my classes with a 'B' or higher. And on the side I'm hoping to learn a new language - Russian or German!!

Blog:

Now for my blog.....I'm challenging myself to post once a day. Thats 365 posts this year. It'll be everything from photoshoot images to images of travel to book reviews and so on. Tons of new things coming your way!! And I hope that you'll all find something you love here.

Travel:

This year I plan on traveling much much more. So I might make my way to somewhere near you. I'll be starting this with a trip to Emerald City Comicon and an early summer trip to England. So look for all sorts of cool things from when I do travel.

Book Club:

Me and my roommate are starting a book club. I'll announce what book we're reading so everyone can read along if they want to. And then making a post about it for everyone to see. We're also looking into starting a facebook group so we can have a chat going about it. More on that soon!!

Last Little Bit Here........

I wanted to join into the Filthy Victorians challenge for the year (these are the rules). But I know that dressing Victorian all year round isn't going to happen. I know my limits. So I'm going to show my support by dressing up Victorian in my own way and as often as I can......

But to challenge myself with it I've decided that I'm gonna try to get dressed up everyday. Anyone that knows me knows that I like to be comfortable and this year I'm going to challenge that to at least be nice looking daily.

Much love and thanx as always for reading!!
